The final results are now in from Event #1 which kicked off the 2011 Borgata Winter Poker Open this past Wednesday and after two long days of play the winner is sure to be a familiar name to readers of the blog as the young player from New York Alex Rocha wins the top prize boosting his bankroll to the tune of $150,850. Alex has been raking in Atlantic City of late as he won Event #3 and cashed in another at the recently completed WSOP Circuit Event at Harrah’s last month. Another name on the winner’s list is that of long time friend of the blog Uncle Leo. He also found success last month at Harrah’s reaching the final table in the Omaha Hi/Lo 8 or better event. Putting in some serious work at the Borgata Event center he walks away claiming a 4th place finish and $47,832 for the long day…

These two would tangle in a massive pot when the action was down to four players. Check this hand out courtesy of the Borgata Winter Open Blog:

Leonardo again opened for 800k and Alex (sb) raised to 2.025 million. Leonardo called and the flop came K 8 6 — all diamonds. Alex asked to see Leonardo’s chips, then bet 1.25 million. Leonardo moved all-in and Alex snap-called, showing AT of diamonds for the nuts. Leonardo’s KQ (top pair) was drawing slim to perfect-perfect. The last two were imperfect — 4 6 — and Alex collected more chips.

The action carried long into the night for this two and a half day event and with the way final table broke down after this hand it might seem like 2nd place finisher Joshua Lawson ($94,236) and Sean Lee ($57,113) where up a little bit past their bed times. Congrats to all the winners.
